Web Support Pause During the Redesign: What You Need to Know

To support the successful launch of the new university website, the web team will be shifting its primary focus to content review, content migration, and site build-out beginning this spring. As part of this transition, we’re asking departments and web editors to limit web update requests to essential, business-critical needs during this period.

We recognize that summer is one of the busiest seasons — incoming students are completing key processes and rely on accurate, up-to-date information. Our goal is to make sure those high-priority needs are still met while keeping the redesign on track.

This guidance applies to both:

  • Departments submitting web requests
  • Web editors who update their own website content (including sites.jwu.edu pages)

Content migration is set to begin in May. To ensure that important updates are not lost during this period, we ask that all requests be limited to essential items only. More details are outlined below.

University Marketing & Communications will be reaching out to select departments to review and update content as part of the redesign. If your department is contacted, please do not submit separate web requests for those pages — those updates will be handled through that process.

Before submitting any web requests over the summer, please review them with your department manager or director to confirm they meet the essential criteria outlined below.

Please note that the web team will not be able to track or replicate changes made independently during this period. If your department makes its own updates, please keep an internal record of those changes to ensure nothing is lost in migration.

When does the freeze start?

From May 15 until the website goes live (August 2026).

What is paused?

The following types of updates will be on hold during this period:

  • Creating new webpages
  • Making major structural changes to existing webpages
  • Rewriting or significantly expanding existing content
  • Design or layout changes
  • Non-admissions related PDFs (see below for exceptions)
  • Sites.jwu.edu updates

What types of essential updates can be made?

We’re committed to supporting updates that have a direct impact on students, compliance or institutional operations. These include:

  • Time-sensitive events (e.g., admissions deadlines, Commencement information, etc.)
  • Admissions-related PDFs such as enrollment checklists, financial forms or health forms
  • Accreditation-related status updates
  • Tuition and financial aid information
  • Legal compliance or required policy updates
  • Missing or broken links on academic program, admissions or financial pages

What if I have an out-of-scope request?

Please hold those updates until the new website is live. We’ll share a process for submitting updates once the redesign launches — nothing will fall through the cracks.

Can I save my existing pages to help me retain point-in-time information?

Yes, and we encourage it! Keeping a point-in-time copy of the page(s) you oversee will help ensure a smooth transition and give you a reference if you need to review and restore specific information after launch.

The easiest way to do this is through your browser’s Print option (⌘ or CTRL+P), which brings up a window where you can set the parameters (like the preferred layout, number of pages and page orientation) before saving the page as a PDF to a designated redesign folder.
